A few bits and pieces of my weekend... 

My parents came in town for the holiday weekend and we had fun visiting some old and new places. 

I finally scored and found a beautiful mid-century credenza that needed a little love and care but cleaned up very nicely.  The proportions are so much better for the living room I love love, love it!

My mom being the amazing person that she is shampooed the carpet in my apartment which took me back to when we first moved in and there was no furniture anywhere.

Had nachos and beer at The Raleigh Times, my favorite.

Went down to Furbish to look around and found that cute glass piggy bank that almost came home with me.

Cafe au Lait on Sunday for brunch at Cafe Caturra, which I totally recommend.

Cupcakes and macaroons at Sugarland, if you have not tried this place, it is time that you do.

Hot lemon water that I thought was a going to be good for my body and ended up making my stomach hurt?!?!

All in all a great relaxing weekend.

I am seriously in love Irene Langlois's home.  If you follow the link you can find more images of the entire house.  Her living however has my heart.  I've always been one to love color but in home design I always veer more towards neutrals.  This is a great example of the inspiration I've been going for in my own home during the design process but feel I haven't really gotten to where I want to be quite yet.  Progress I suppose is better than nothing.

That being said, it's Friday!  What are you plans for the weekend?  I am heading to the Asheville to explore the Biltmore Estate and celebrate my birthday with some friends.  The plans include eating at a lot of great restaurants which I'm told are in abundance, relax, and try some of the bars in the area.  I am thoroughly excited.  It's been years since I've been to the area and I've only heard great things.

Its the weekend finally.  I plan on sleeping in late, going to the flea market, doing a little Christmas shopping, and going to see a movie.  What are your plans?

The weather here has been pretty dismal here for the past two days.  Add to that dropping temperatures and all I want is to crawl up in front of a fireplace with a cup of soup and a good book.  Nevertheless I don't have a fireplace so I'll just turn on the heat, but the soup I can work on.  I'm making a pretty simple chili tonight with some cornbread and plan on relaxing and staying inside. 

I had a pretty eventful weekend but did end up getting quite a bit of rest.  Friday I took a dear friend to dinner for her birthday.  We were able to try a new place out that we ended up loving.  Saturday I had to work a few hours then went to the World Beer Festival in the area.  I tried a lot of different beers and a few ciders that I loved.  Sunday I spent lazing around, went to some friend's house and watched football and capped off the weekend with Chinese and a movie.

Is it feeling like fall where you live yet?  Usually in NC the weather is a bit more mild this time of year and definitely not cold yet but maybe we are getting a head start this year...

Lately it's been pretty quite on the blog.  However, I have seemed to get a lot crossed off my to-do list in real life.

Some of the never ending list:

...Paint the chalkboard wall

...Get the fish scale piece hung and fix the corners

...Organize the tool box

...Clean up the desk nook

...Put pictures in the frames on the gallery wall

...Find a console table for TV

...Find a piece to use as a bar

...Find a stool to use for vanity

I'll be sure to post some of the progress this week in my apartment.  Hopefully the weather clears up so I can get some good light.  It feels as if its been raining here constantly, but it does make me feel like fall is here so its not all that bad!  How was your weekend?

I updated my last post saying I wouldn't be so missing in action around here and I'm now updating you for lack of that happening.  It's Friday so I'm going to keep it short and sweet, I'll be back ready to go on Monday.

What have you been up to this week?  I worked.  A lot.  I'm trying to get a few things done this weekend at the house in between being at the ballpark and sleeping.  

...I went and bought the spray paint yesterday for my patio furniture so hopefully by Monday I will have glossy white chairs.  

...I have finally found a console style bookcase over on The Everygirl from Ikea that I plan to use in the dining area of the house and for a bar!

...My parents are coming tomorrow to hang out for a few hours and are bringing a vanity that my mom redid.  I found it on the side of the road about a year ago and it finally has a home!

saturday fun.

This past weekend I finally made my way to the Farmers Market.  It turned out to be way more than simply vendors and local farmers selling their produce.  There were shops and restaurants plus about three large open air buildings full of all the great local produce the area has to offer.  I really enjoyed the store at the market which featured some great pieces for the home as well as awesome items for the garden.  I was obsessed with the weird egg type chair and want to go back for the Chicago and New York canvas prints.  I did purchase some great tomatoes and peaches and have been enjoying them the past two days.

What did you do all weekend?  I mainly worked but am glad I was able to fit this little trip in.

I am so excited to leave and actually go on a real vacation I can’t wait.  I think the last time I went on a true vacation was last October and it ended up not being a really great trip so this one I am anticipating each day.  I just have to get through the next week and I will be leaving!  

This weekend I’ll be spending at work so there’s not much in the way of exciting things that I will be doing.  I did find two awesome chairs that I plan on redoing for our patio; remember here where they wouldn’t let me have just the chairs.  Well guess who sweet talked their way into buying just two of them instead.  I might go back for the other two if I need them for an office redo but until then I’ve got two great chairs for $30.  Look at these beauties!

The sanding and prep work will begin on those tomorrow but other than that I have no plans.  What are you doing?  Any sanding and spray painting in your future?

My boyfriend bought me a bunch of wooden spoons when we first started dating and to this day I still have no clue why, maybe an omen for me to learn to cook?  They have become a very useful present that I use quite often but I would love to dip them into some fun colorful paints to spice up my utensil container!  Just a little bit of sunshine in the kitchen to brighten the day. 

What are you doing this weekend?  My plans are...

...Hit up every thrift store I can find to look for the pieces of furniture that have seemed to be eluding me.

...Go out on the water

...Head to Lowes to finally get the inspiration board/way to hide the ugly desk nook started, I need materials!

...Sleep in

...Take another look at the progress of the office redo I am working on and start thinking up ideas for layout and fabric choices.

It feels like forever since I last posted.  July 4th plus a short vacation took up a lot of time but I am ready to get back into the swing of things.  I was able to work on a few projects that I have been meaning to take some time to do.  One of them being a lamp redo that I'm not so sure I'm going to end up liking.  Its a retro shape with a huge drum shade but the base is not looking too great as of right now so we shall see once I cover the shade.  I'm a little upset because I paid more for this lamp than I normally would but heres to hoping!

I also found a great piece of fabric that I am going to use to make into a rug.  Its a nice bright green chenille that's thick enough to pass for a rug and for $12 for two yards should work well in my living room.  If it doesn't I plan on using it in the office I'm working on with some navy green accents.

What a week this has been! 

…I am in the final stages of moving, everything is almost packed and ready to be taken to the new place; now I just have to finish taking apart my furniture… 

…I got back in the water again.  I was a year round swimmer for about 10 years and last year started swimming with a Masters team, took a six month break and now am back.  Needless to say my whole body is sore!

As for the weekend I plan on…

…Celebrating Father’s Day and my Mom’s Birthday since my parents will be in town

…Finish the move!!

…Go see Rock of Ages (Does anyone else think this looks insanely good?)

…Get the kitchen completely unpacked and functional, I hate not being able to cook or at least make a salad and know where a fork is

…Start working on getting the gallery wall rehung

…Potentially a cookout on Sunday!

All in all it should be a pretty good weekend!  What are you doing?  Anyone else moving?  I’m hoping the move painless and quick.  Wish me luck!

a little recap.

Well hello there!  It's been a few days since I last signed on hope everyone had a great weekend.  Mine was packed but a lot of fun, just looking to spend the night relaxing, but I did want to do a photo update of some of the things I have been up to in the past two weeks.

it's the freakin weekend...

So excited that I get to leave this behind for a few days...

Well my computer has decided that it is not uploading photos today :(  It was a picture of my office at work, nothing special but I am happy to be out and about this weekend.  I am visiting my parents who live near Charlotte, NC and my mom and I are planning a little shopping trip to ikea, some thrift stores, and of course clothes shopping as well.
