home tour.

As promised here is a a short home tour of the living areas in my apartment.  Bedroom to come soon.  You can see what I started with here.  When I first moved in all I had was the furniture I owned from college.  I have since upgraded to a few of my own pieces with some of the hand me downs mixed in.

The lighting is extremely poor in my apartment and I apologize for the bad pictures I tried really hard and took a lot and these were the best I could get.  Bare with me, I'm still learning!

I am really excited to move into our new place, the lay out of the apartment is completely different and more of a large open space rather than separate rooms designated to be certain things.  It gives me a lot more freedom as to where to put things and how to organize our spaces than our current place does.

Two weeks to go and we will be moving!  Sometimes I can't believe its come up this fast.  Are you moving soon?  Perhaps to a house?  My dream!  Or maybe just rearranging your furniture to mix things up a bit?  Anyone have tips on interior photography?  Its proving to be pretty difficult!

wedding wednesday.

What is your ideal left ring finger look like?  Do you have a very traditional solitaire with a solid wedding band?  Or perhaps something more sparkly with diamonds on both the wedding band and the engagement ring band.  Sometimes I think about how beautiful it would be to just wear a diamond wedding band.  I love the top and bottom options in this picture so simplistic yet still beautiful.

What do you think?  Are you a traditional girl?  Or do you like forgoing the engagement ring?

memorial day.

What are your plans for the upcoming holiday weekend?  I plan on taking a long and relaxing break.  Working long hours for the past two weeks has really worn me down and I am excited to have a full four days off from work!  I'm heading down to the South Carolina beaches all weekend and plan to relax and enjoy some much needed free time.  With that said here is all I intend to accomplish over the next four days...

~ Get my hair chopped off.  It has gotten out of control long and I can't stand having to try and work with it everyday.
~ Get interior shots of my apartment, I know I have been promising these for the longest time and now with the imminent move the time has come to get my butt into gear before everything gets packed up in boxes..
~ Spend some quality time on the beach with a good book (On a side note did anyone else not like 50 Shades of Grey?  I hated it, I have about 100 pages left and seriously do not want to pick it up again.)
~ Take a walk on the beach everyday that I am there
~ Try a blueberry banana smoothie
~ Start working on some decorations for a Welcome Back party (details to come later)

I think that about sums to it.  What are your plans for the weekend?  Anyone taking an exciting trip?  Or just staying at home and relaxing?  Whatever it is that you do, have an amazing Memorial Day!

moving.

I'm moving in three weeks to a new apartment and started packing last night.  Needless to say its going to be a daunting process.  We are moving simply because we can no longer afford the place we live, in the past two years rent has increased dramatically and in my opinion just not practical to spend that much money each month on something I will never own.  That being said I am excited about the move.  The apartment is smaller but gets a decent amount of light which for where we live is not the norm, most of the ones we looked at were really dark.

I have been debating about a lot of things concerning decorating and would love (albeit in my dreams) to paint the back of our door pink.  I prob wouldn't go with the chalkboard but the bright pink each day right before you walk out would put anyone in a good mood.  Hmm...I wonder if my landlord would be okay with that?   Probably not but one can dream...

Sometimes I wish I could live in something this bold.  How amazing is that wallpaper plus the pink?  Stunning.

What are you plans this weekend?

wedding wednesday.

I'm from the south.  Born and raised I've lived there all my life except for a few months abroad and in NYC, my roots here are through and through.  My dad is from rural South Carolina my mom from suburban New Jersey but moved to the south for college and never went back.

I have a reason for telling you all this in relation to Wedding Wednesday and that would be pie.

Wedding pie to be exact.  I grew up eating my Grandmother's amazing Pecan Pie and it would suffice to say that having having cake at my wedding would not mesh that well with my southern roots.  Don't get me wrong I love wedding cake or cupcakes, or cheesecake or whatever it is that a bride and groom feel best suites them for their wedding but there is something so alluring to me about having pie instead of cake.  I know my Dad would love it, the man could put away three slices of my grandma's pie and still want more!

When you think of weddings could you imagine not doing a traditional wedding cake?  Cheesecake anyone?  Or maybe another favorite that has popped up recently, cupcakes?  I once saw a wedding where the couple did doughnut holes, love that!  What is your go-to for a wedding dessert?

weekend fun.

What did you do over the weekend?  I spent most of mine with a friend who graduated college this weekend.  Does it ever put you in the academic spirit when going to graduations.  It definitely did for me.  I wanted to throw all caution to the wind and go back to school ASAP, hmm decisions.

I was at home for the ceremony so I got to spend some time with my cat Richard which always makes me happy, went and saw a movie, and spent Sunday relaxing and watching reruns.

What did you do this weekend?  Any exciting plans?  And how much do you adore those shoes?  I have always wanted a pair of leopard print shoes, flats to be specific but have never taken the plunge.  But those are amazing, WANT. NEED. NOW!

mother's day.

I wanted to take the time to say a Happy Mother's Day to my amazing mother.  She is my rock and best friend, words cannot describe how lucky I am to have her as a part of my life.  Happy Mother's Day Mom!  Love you!

vacation.

Few places stick out in my mind as much as this one.  Lake Louise is a hamlet located in Alberta, Canada that is known for its skiing and recreation sports.  I have wanted to visit since I originally saw a picture on Pinterest.

I for one hate skiing and would never go in the winter but during June or July this would be the ultimate vacation for me.  Can you imagine going out on the lake and being able to take all of that in.  This girl could!  Someday...

Do you have any ultimate vacation spots?  Or is there someplace you are planning on going soon?  What travel destination are at the top of your bucket list?  For me this is right up there with sailing the Greek Isles.

wedding wednesday.

I think there are a number of great ways to remember all of the guests who attended your wedding whether that be a traditional guest book or something completely different like a thumb print with everyone writing their name.  What is important is that you have something to remember all of your guests by because with the day flying by as fast as it does you'll want something to look back on.

These are some of my favorites that I have found.

I absolutely love this idea!  How cute to have all of your guests take snapshots of each other then write a little note for you.  Beware Polaroid film is expensive, so when planning make sure to budget for this it might seem like a simple cheap project but can be pricey.

This is a great idea if you want to include pictures, or if you have a ton of engagement pictures that you love and want to show off.  Snapfish is a great place to create one of these books.  Simply leave somewhere at your reception and have everyone sign.

Lastly, I love this idea where each guest gets a piece of paper and their own envelope to put their note card in.  How fun would it be to go through the book year after year.

One thing to remember it is better to put a guest book out at your reception rather than at the ceremony when guests are arriving.  By doing this it gives everyone time to write something and have fun with it, instead of being rushed.  Plus it gives everyone something to do during cocktail hour or in-between dinner and dancing.

What did you do at your wedding for a guest book?  Something traditional?  Or quirky?  I really love the Polaroid option!  So fun for years to come!

summer.

I want to apologize for not being around lately.  My lack of posting last week was unintentional, life simply got in the way.  I wanted to share this with all of you.  I love the topography and this was done by hand from the amazing Kelsey Cronkhite.

She made it into a wallpaper which I love.  Something to brighten your days at work!

friday fun.

I want to apologize for being absent this week, life got in the way.  However, I did want to drop by and share something awesome for all of you that will be attending a little horse race this weekend known as The Kentucky Derby.  How amazing would this flower be instead of a hat.  Its large enough to look like a hat yet a little edgy to satisfy the creative mind.

If your going I envy you, drink a mint julep for me!
